  • Start your day the FIT way!

You have a lot going on, especially during this time of year, but be sure to prioritize yourself, too! You’ve probably realized this as you established your fitness habits in the first place, but it’s easy to neglect the gym after a long day of work and you still have errands and/or social events to attend.

Avoid the possibility of skipping the gym by doing it first thing in the morning. You’ll kick start your metabolism, boost your endorphins (elevating your mood), and start your day with a sense of accomplishment. Even if your workout lasts 20 minutes, your mind and body will thank you!

  • When you’re short on time, make the most of it with full-body workouts!

Between work, holiday shopping, parties and taking care of the family, it’s sometimes difficult to make time for the gym. Things come up; we get it, but when you DO have time, make the most of it.

Rather than focusing on a strict workout regimen and getting down in the dumps when you miss a workout, praise yourself when they DO happen and kick them up a notch! Add supersets, compound movements, HIIT (Learn more, here), and full body circuits to your workout mix. Don’t get down, get up and moving!

  • Prepare!

The common theme here is that the holidays throw our schedules out of whack which can lead to compromised fitness goals. BUT, just like other times of the year when life may get crazy, you can prepare for success.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s hard to find time to eat let alone cook and prep meals, but there are convenient options that can keep hunger at bay when you’re not able to have a full, healthy meal. Bring simple, healthy options like protein powder, trail mix (Recipe ideas, here), a piece of fruit, or protein bars ( Recipe, here) when you’re away. Don’t let desperate, ravenousness win!

  • Splurge when it’s special. Skip the rest!

Going through the holiday season without touching a treat is not only torture but also unrealistic. We all love our goodies (and that’s ok)!

Rather than avoiding treats altogether, try to limit your indulgences to when it’s important to you. For example, are you looking forward to Grandma’s pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving dinner? Have a slice? How about trying out Santa’s cookies you baked with the kids on Christmas Eve? Be a taste-tester!

However, passing up treats that don’t have particular “meaning” to you, such as donuts in the work breakroom, could lead to increased confidence and less intake of calories in the long run.

Don’t let yourself get discouraged by how things may have been in years past. Feel empowered to take on this holiday season with confidence and courage to succeed in your fitness goals! FITTEAM’s got your back!

What’s your best tip for staying on track during the holidays?
