The holidays can be a tricky time to navigate for anyone looking to keep on track with their health and wellness goals. However, it doesn’t have to be! Below we take a look at some of the best ways to help you keep focused on your goals through the holidays and how to keep that momentum going into the new year!

  • Always remember your WHY! Reflect on why you set your health and wellness goals in the first place. This will help you navigate the mindless indulgences along the way.
  • Plan ahead. For example, if you know you are going to a holiday party where there will be endless snacks and unhealthy food try to eat before. Make sure you don’t show up hungry.
  • Pick one not all! It is important to still enjoy the things you love so one way would be to pick your indulgence. For example, if you go for the sugar cookie pass on the brownie. Or if you choose to have an appetizer pass on dessert.
  • Portion control. Mindless eating aka grazing is so easy to do. Try to combat this habit by sticking to making one plate and only eating off that plate. That way you are aware of how much you are eating.
  • Water water water! Make sure you are staying hydrated and drink plenty of water not only is this great for you but it will help your munchies stay in check.
  • – Don’t fall to peer pressure! It is NOT RUDE to turn down and offering. If you are nervous about this use the following saying which I learned from com “”I ate just recently, so I need to save room for ____ (fill in the blank).”
  • Be mindful about where you are located during your gatherings. Try to stay away from the kitchen or the snack table, try to sit next to someone who may also be eating healthy. These actions will help you stay on track!
