Why You Don’t Want to Skip Meals and Snacks if You are Hungry

You know that feeling…you get home after a long day and it’s time to make dinner, but dinner won’t be ready for another hour. You take a peek in the pantry for something small to hold you over but as soon as you start chowing down on those crackers with cheese, two leads to four leads to six leads to ten and before you know it you have consumed enough calories to qualify as an actual meal! But how could you have avoided this? By not letting yourself get so hungry in the first place!

It’s common for people to want to avoid snacking or to skip meals so they can enjoy a larger meal at their next eating occasion, but this often times sets you up to overeat at this next meal. Consider keeping high protein snacks with you or available throughout the day so that you can have a small snack between lunch and when you get home.

Here are some great options:

  1. A packet of LEAN with unsweetened almond milk

  2. Cheese sticks

  3. 100 Calorie packs of almonds

  4. Low sugar greek yogurt (Two Good is a good one!)

  5. Low sugar protein bars (Built bars are awesome!)
