HOW TO PREPARE FOR A BUSY SEASON

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A BUSY SEASON

As we make our way into fall most of us make our way into a very busy season! A busy season for work, for our social life and for our families. However, did you know there are ways to prepare for a busy season that will make it all seem stress free and enjoyable? Below we share some tips we have learned along the way that can make work a tad easier during this time.

  • Set perspective and prioritize, not only for yourself but for your team. We tend to get in our head when we are busy and stressed so try to remember why you started your business or why you do what you do. Remembering the why is a powerful motivation tool to push through this busy and stressful times. Focus on prioritizing, make a list of all the things that need to be accomplished, delegate the ones you can and then realign the items that remain.  Do this with your team as well, if they are in the right mindset and they have their goals in line everyone will be on the same page and motivated to push through the season united.
  • Prepare and plan accordingly, this one may seem like a given but during the holiday season common work schedules seem to get thrown out the window. Devise a plan that keeps you focused on the right things at the right time. Keeping a schedule and time tracker can be a great way to ensure you are getting in the important items on your to do list done. Prepare yourself in advance, if you are in a business that carries inventory, make sure you are stocked up. If you plan on being away finish your tasks before you leave or automate them
  • Invest in help if you can, are you in the position to hire seasonal help than go for it. This also works for your personal life, maybe you want to free up some time try hiring a cleaner or landscaper for the season which could free up some personal time allowing you to enjoy instead of feeling stressed. Another way to invest in help is to invest in technology. Is there a program or system that would make your day to day easier or quicker then try to have this new technology in place before busy season begins so you are prepared.
  • Remind your team they are valued. Even though this time of year should be about comradery and joy it doesn’t always feel like it. Maybe try hosting a get together or party for your team. Remember to show grace as everyone has something going on that we can’t see so be sure to take the time to remind this during this time that they make a difference.

We encourage you to prepare for the season ahead and prepare a plan that way you will be ready for whatever this busy season throws your way!
