New Year Mindset

New Year Mindset

The end of year is nearing which means 2023 is on the horizon. This is the perfect time to reflect on the past and realign your mindset for the New Year.

The first thing we need to do is reflect on the past year. Think about all the things you are grateful for and were able accomplish these are success that should be celebrated. On the other hand, think about the things you wish to improve going into the new year, try writing these down that way you can make a plan of action on how you will achieve these improvements. Creating a plan for the new year is a great way to get your head in the right mindset. Make sure this plan is written out and contains both short and long term goals.

On top of planning for the new year try creating a schedule. Even a very loose schedule will give you a better idea of how your time will play out day to day which will enable you to achieve more. Another form of scheduling can simply be creating a to do list every morning, crossing items off a to-do list will make you feel accomplished giving you the confidence to keep going. This positive mindset will help keep you on track all year long.

Set the proper focus. Every task requires some level of focus so make sure you are set on the right thing. For example, say one of your goals is to lose weight, don’t focus on the number on the scale but rather the daily actions and behaviors that lead to end goal. So instead of saying I want to lose 10 pounds say I want to walk more daily, or I want to eat more vegetables and less sugar. These actions and habits will lead to the outcome you desire opposed to focusing on the scale. It’s being in the right mindset long term that will lead to the desired outcomes. Ina addition when setting goals make sure you don’t go too big or too small. Be realistic about the goals and the changes you want to achieve.

Lastly, it is important to always give yourself grace and have a positive mindset. When you find yourself in a negative space stop and change the narrative, you are the one in control of your inner voice so try this year to avoid self-doubt and when you catch yourself doubting always correct the thought. Get rid of the I can’t and the I’m not good enough and swap them for I’ll try, I can, and I am good enough. These small changes will have huge impacts in 2023.
